Butch Cassidy, Matt Warner,
and the Unknown Outlaw, Growing up in Layton, Utah, I listened to many stories told by my father about how his uncle helped raise him. This wouldn't be so unusual except for the fact that his uncle happened to be David Fraughton, the "unknown outlaw" who rode with Matt Warner and Butch Cassidy. |

In 1894, David was in Browns Park, and on the outlaw trail. After one particular bank robbery with Butch Cassidy's gang, David was assigned the horse relay. He had been told to take a pack horse loaded with $20 gold coins and other currency on a different trail. As the posse chased Butch and Elzy, David and one other outlaw buried the gold. After working on my family history for over 40 years, my husband and I dug out the truth about this story. My family joined the search and we found that all my father had told us was true. Join us on this journey through jail and prison life, and the danger of the outlaw trail as we look at the people, places, and time period that the unknown outlaw encountered, from the Hole in the Wall, Wyoming to Browns Park and Robbers Roost, Utah, to the beautiful High Uintah mountains. I have used many pictures to illustrate this journey back in time to pioneers, outlaws, and the old west. My father's stories often centered on his and David's search for the buried treasure. What happened to it? Find out for yourself in Butch Cassidy, Matt Warner, and the Unknown Outlaw, where the story is shared for the first time outside our family. 228 pages; includes CD |
